superheroes_web.jpgDAVIE — The Young At Art Museum is calling all cartoon enthusiasts, video gamers and superheroes to the seventh annual Young At Art Teen Comic Convention on Friday, July 19, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Admission to the Young At Art Museum, 751 S.W. 121 Ave. in Davie, is $13 per person; $12 for seniors and children over age 1.  During the convention, local teen artists will display and sell their colorful, animated artwork, including from YAA’s summer cartoon camp.

Convention activities include:

Anime Gaming Experience, including a Wii Just Dance station, a gaming lounge for casual players and a gaming tournament for serious gamers; Quick Draw Contest (three age categories and prizes for the winners); Cosplay Costume Contest for all those who come dressed as their favorite superheroes (G-rated costumes please). Guests who wear superhero costumes will receive $2 off admission; A display by Tate’s Comics, Inc. featuring action figures and anime characters.

Tate’s also will have comic giveaways, comics for sale and Japanese snacks to sample and for sale; Afternoon screening of Monica (featuring the voice of actress Bailee Madison), the animated short workshop by YAA educator and animator Rob Cabrera, followed by a Q&A and poster signing; Digital Cartooning Demonstration by Rob Cabrera;
