MIRAMAR — Sunbeam Properties and the Miramar Park of Commerce have again made a donation to Hangin’ with 5-0, an annual summer program for at-risk teens in the city. This time, they donated $15,000. Hangin’ with 5-0 is a six-week summer program for students ages 11 to 15 that, this year ran through Aug. 4.
The students, who were selected by their school resource officers and guidance counselors, went on field trips, played sports and took part in other activities, with breakfast and lunch served.
“Sunbeam’s generous donation gives these great kids a chance to really show their true potential. They are here for the fun but also learn many lessons that they can take with them to school and apply to their lives,” said Miramar Police Officer Scott Hadley, who runs the program. “Through the Hangin’ with 5-0 summer program, we have the opportunity to reach many children who otherwise may have strayed in the wrong direction,” Hadley said.
Andrew Ansin, vice president of Sunbeam Properties, said the aim was to support “the programs that make a difference in our community.”
“Hangin’ with 5-0 is one of them,” he said. “The program fosters learning and camaraderie and encourages participation. It really is a win for these kids and we are proud to be part of it.”
