INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana health officials want to remind residents that their children must be up-to-date on their immunizations as the school year begins.

Indiana Health Commissioner Jerome Adams says all students entering kindergarten and first grade must have two doses of the hepatitis A vaccine. He says students going into 12th grade must have two doses of the meningitis vaccine. A full list of Indiana school immunization requirements is on the Indiana State Department of Health website.

Adams also encourages parents to talk with doctors about the HPV vaccine, which is available for boys and girls. The department says all boys and girls ages 11 to 26 should receive the vaccine, which is given in three doses over six months.
