The Academy of Hospitality & Tourism at Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School was awarded the Sanford I. Weill Academy of Excellence Award by the National Academy Foundation at its annual conference in Anaheim, Calif., this past summer. The award, named for distinguished banker, financier and NAF founder, Sanford I. Weill, is a national prize presented to the Academy exhibiting the highest standards for public-private partnerships for the benefit of students. The academy also was the winner of an exchange project with students from Russia, sponsored by the U.S. State Department and administered by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. The U.S./Russia Peer-To-Peer Dialogue Program fostered personal contact between the two countries during exchange visits.
