Tennis great Serena Williams is coming out of retirement to compete on the tennis court again.

According to TMZ, Williams, who retired in 2022, has announced she’s returning to the sport where she won multiple major titles including Wimbledon, the French Open, the Austrian Open and the U.S. Open.

Williams will play in a doubles match at Queen’s Club next week.

It was reported she might play at Wimbledon, which starts this month.

Williams, 44, last played a competitive match at the US Open in 2022, losing to Australian tennis star Ajla Tomljanovic.

In a pro career spanning over 25 years, Serena Williams held the world No. 1 singles ranking a total of 319 weeks during her career, according to the Women’s Tennis Association.

This included a 186‑week consecutive reign that tied Steffi Graf’s record for the longest uninterrupted time at the top.

She finished as year‑end No. 1 five times Popular Timelines.

Her first No. 1 came in 2002, and she remained the top player for over 18 months before injuries and competition disrupted her dominance.

She returned to the top in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, cementing her status as one of the most consistent and successful players in tennis history.
