diverse friends_web.jpgLAUDERDALE LAKES — The Broward County Baccalaureate Committee will hold its 28th annual Baccalaureate Service at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at First Baptist Church Piney Grove, 4699 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Lauderdale Lakes.


High school and college graduates will hear a sermon intended to inspire them to become lifelong learners and productive citizens. 

The address will be given by the Rev. Dr. Derrick J. Hughes, senior pastor at First Baptist Church Piney Grove.


All 2011 high school and college graduates are encouraged to attend the service in celebration of them and their achievements. Graduating seniors should contact their school’s brace advisor or guidance counselor for more information. The attire is their graduation robe or young ladies should wear a white dress or white skirt and blouse and the young men should wear a dark suit and dark tie or dark slacks, white dress shirt and dark tie. Participants must report to First Baptist Church Piney Grove by 3:30 p.m. in order to participate in the processional.

It is a joyous occasion for the entire community: a time to rejoice, to praise, to honor and to celebrate with each other the life of learning.

Parents, family, friends and all members of the community are also invited to join us in the celebration.
