LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Twenty Jefferson County girls will spend two weeks this month at the University of Louisville learning how to use software to make videos.

A news release from U of L said organizers hope the Digital Media Academy will help girls see themselves as producers of technology, not just consumers, and that they will consider education as a way to a better future.

The students just completed fifth grade at Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School and Cochran Elementary School.

The students will share their videos in a showcase at the end of camp. During the camp, they will create items in the Velocity MakerMobile trailer laboratory outfitted with technological “maker” tools and visit Freedom Park along the U of L campus to learn about civil rights leaders.
