The Nation of Islam confirmed she died on June 27, 2026, saying she was a devoted wife, others and faithful follower of the teachings of the late Elijah Muhammad.
Her death marks the end of a decades-long chapter within the Nation of Islam and closes a life that spanned family leadership, faith and public service alongside one of the most recognizable figures in the movement.
Khadijah and Louis Farrakhan were married for 72 years, an union that endured major personal and organizational milestones and remained one of the most enduring partnerships within Nation Islam.
According to reports, Khadijah Farrakhan embraced Islam early in her adult life.
She and her husband converted to Islam two years after their marriage and Louis Farrakhan was introduced to the Nation of Islam’s teachings by fellow musician Rodney Smith.
She was also a devoted mother.
The couple had nine children; eight of them survived her.
The family also experienced painful losses in recent years, including the deaths of sons Louis Farrakhan Jr. and Joshua Farrakhan.
As Louis Farrakhan rose to become one of the Nation of Islam’s most prominent leaders, Khadijah remained a constant presence.
She later became recognized as the Nation of Islam’s First Lady after her husband assumed leadership of the organization in the early 1980s.
After Louis Farrakhan’s role in organizing the 1995 Million Man March, Khadijah stepped into a highly visible public role at the 1997 Million Woman March in Philadelphia.
Her remarks emphasized unity and family strength.
A cause of death for Khadijah Farrakhan was not disclosed and funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
