FORT LAUDERDALE — Former Fort Lauderdale Vice-Mayor Cindi Hutchinson turned herself in at Broward County's main jail Friday morning on public corruption charges, the Broward State Attorney’s Office announced.
Hutchinson, 53, was charged with multiple counts of corruption involving a fence, pavers and other improvements to her home from developer Glenn Wright, owner of Glenn Wright Construction.
Prosecutors alleged the work was done at no charge in exchange for Hutchinson’s support of the La Preserve and Georgian Oaks luxury residential developments.
Steve Goldstrom, 54, a former business partner of Wright, was also arrested. He is accused of facilitating and sending the project’s subcontractors to Hutchison’s home to perform the work.
Hutchinson represented District IV, which encompasses sections of southeast Fort Lauderdale and downtown. She served three terms on the city commission, from 2000 until she was term-limited in March 2009.
Hutchinson is currently president and CEO of the Riverwalk Trust located in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
