TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ The League of Women Voters of Florida opposes all 11 proposed state constitutional amendments on the Nov. 6 ballot.
League officials announced their opposition Wednesday to the amendments, all offered by the Republican-led Florida Legislature.
The organization notes that five amendments _ numbers 2, 4, 9, 10 and 11 _ would cut local property taxes by more than $1 billion in the first three years, likely forcing cuts in education, transportation, public safety and other services.
Amendment 3 would limit state revenues.
The league has a longstanding policy of opposing limitations on tax sources or revenues in the constitution.
It also contends Amendment 8 could cut public school funding by lifting a ban on state aid to religious organizations including parochial schools.
