West Palm Beach – The Urban League of Palm Beach County (ULPBC) hosted its Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive Saturday at the former University Preparatory Academy for families seeking food assistance in the holiday season.
Officials said 700 turkeys and Thanksgiving food boxes were distributed to individuals and families in need, each meal at a cost of roughly $41.
Guests received a turkey, bread, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, navy and baked beans, bananas, carrots, a variety of canned goods and more.
“We remain committed to supporting families during the holiday season and throughout the year,” said Patrick Franklin, league president and CEO. “We are grateful for the sponsors, over 95 volunteers, and community partners who made this food drive possible.”
According to the Palm Beach County Food Bank, more than 192,000 residents face food insecurity, including 51,000 children who do not have enough to eat each day. Addressing urgent community needs, especially hunger relief, continues to be one of the league’s highest priorities.
The ULPBC was joined by a network of corporate and community partners, including the Town of Palm Beach United Way, M&T Bank, the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Hubbard Radio, X102.3, WPTV NewsChannel 5, The Palm Beach Post, ConnectOne Bank, Valley Bank, Cheney Brothers, Farm Share, the Eda and Cliff Viner Community Scholars Foundation, FPL, Enterprise Mobility, Lennar, Military Brakes, All Site Construction, Walgreens, Chase Bank, and Bloomin’ Brands.
