West Palm Beach – Bastion of business and community service, keynote speaker Tarra Pressey Moten, middle row second from left, shared wisdom and evoked smiles, as Palm Beach County Commissioner Bobby Powell, president of the Palm Beach County Caucus of Black Elected Officials, left, and fellow caucus members hosted their annual “Making a Difference” scholarship fundraising luncheon in a packed ballroom Saturday at the West Palm Beach Marriott. Caucus members and other South Florida elected officials, and guests from around South Florida, included Port of Palm Beach Commissioner Dr. Jean Enright, middle row second from right, and mistress of ceremonies Yasmine Julmisse of WPBF TV; Boynton Beach Commissioner Woodrow Hay, bottom from left, and Charles Ridley; the renowned Dr. Barbara Shuler and Haverhill Council Member Dr. Teresa Johnson. A key message in Moten’s onstage conversation with South Florida Times Editor C.B. Hanif was “giving back,” which her career exemplifies, and which was affirmed by former mentee Ann Marie Sorrell, herself an award-winning business leader and community contributor, as well as Moten’s myriad other friends and admirers in the audience.
