Miami (BPRW) – In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the “Thrivin’ in Color” podcast welcomed a pioneer in breast cancer advocacy, Reona Berry, co-founder and executive director of the African American Breast Cancer Alliance (AABCA) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Berry has been a leading voice in increasing awareness, education, and support for African American women and men affected by breast cancer.

She joins host Camry Brown to reflect on her personal journey, the founding of AABCA, and the importance of early detection and culturally responsive care.

Berry opens up about her experience being diagnosed at a time when resources and representation for Black women were limited.

She also discusses misconceptions surrounding breast cancer, barriers to early detection, and the need for more open conversations about health.

“Reona’s passion for advocacy and her commitment to the community are so inspiring,” said Camry. “I hope listeners feel empowered by her message of hope and action.”

Founded in 1990, the African American Breast Cancer Alliance (AABCA) advocates, connects, educates, and supports Black/African American women, men, families, and communities impacted by breast cancer.
