ambulance_logo.jpgThe Office of Minority Health Research Coordination (OMHRC) at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is accepting applications for the NIDDK/OMHRC Summer Internship Program (SIP).

This 10-week residential program is for undergraduate students from racial/ethnic groups underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research and disadvantaged backgrounds. 

 

EXPOSE TO RESEARCH

The purpose is to expose student participants to research in the NIDDK mission areas, including diabetes, endocrinology, metabolism, nutrition, obesity, as well as digestive, liver, urologic, kidney and hematologic disease. 

Students will be matched with a research mentor at the NIH Campus in Bethesda, Md. or Phoenix, Ariz.

The NIDDK/OMHRC is also accepting applications for the Short-Term Education Program for Underrepresented Persons (STEP-UP).

STEP-UP
This is an eight to ten-week program for high school or undergraduate students from racial/ethnic groups underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research, and students

from disadvantaged backgrounds.

MATCH WITH MENTOR
The purpose is to expose student participants to research in the NIDDK mission areas.

Students will be matched with a research mentor at their choice of research institution when possible. The program description and online application can be found on the stepup.niddk.nih.gov.
