MIAMI – Cursive writing for public schools’ students could be brought back to the classrooms under a proposed Florida bill.
House Bill 127, which was filed for the upcoming 2026 Legislative Session, would mandate cursive writing for students in grades 2-5.
Students would have to be proficient in writing and reading cursive. If the bill becomes law, it will take effect in July 2026.
Republican state Rep. Kim Kendall is sponsoring the bill.
