FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale is ranked the sixth least safe state in America, according to WalletHub.
The nationwide personal finance company which empowers consumers to lead financially healthy lives conducted a study and discovered the Broward County city ranks in the top 10 based on several categories.
WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across three key dimensions: home and community safety, natural disaster risk and financial safety to determine where Americans “can feel most protected against life’s hazards, including nonphysical forms of danger.”
WalletHub said Fort Lauderdale residents had one of the worst percentages of households with emergency savings.
The report found that the safest city in Florida is Port St. Lucie which came in at No. 10 in the U.S. in the home and community safety ranking.
Orlando was No. 160., Tallahassee 120 and Miami 113.
