MIAMI – A land transfer between Florida and Miami-Dade College to build the President Donald Trump Library was temporarily blocked by a judge.
According to the Associated Press, Miami Dade Circuit Court Judge Mavel Ruiz issued the injunction following a lawsuit filed by Florida International University professor emeritus Marvin Dunn.
Dunn, a local historian and social justice activist, argued the property transfer violates Florida law and public trust.
Earlier this month, the Miami Dade College Board of Trustees approved the land transfer, a 2.63 parking lot adjacent to Freedom Tower along
Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami.
Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet voted to gift the Trump Presidential Library.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier told reporters he plans to appeal the court’s decision.
