Monica Barnes, Diana Bien-Aime, Alexis Brown, Nikki Davenport, Dr. Nicole Fields, Kim McCray and Joy Vickers, who represent a cross-section of professional backgrounds, were made members in a ceremony, followed by a Friendship Luncheon.

Giving young people aging out of foster care the skills and resources they need to become self-sufficient and gain employment was the focus of the group’s community service project. The ladies worked with a group of young people aging out of foster case at Casa Valentina. The participants were provided with tips on how to prepare and dress for an interview. Each participant received a new suit for upcoming internship interviews.

Ninth National President Regina Jollivette Frazier, a member of the Greater Miami (FL) Chapter, delivered a keynote address at the luncheon highlighting the local, national and global reach of The Links as well as the importance of the principles of friendship and service on which the organization was founded.

The Dade County (FL) Chapter was chartered on June 1, 1986. Chapter organizers are Jessie Stinson, DoLores Washington and Geneva Knowles Woodard. It has more than 50 members who work on initiatives related to fighting childhood obesity, children in foster care, and programs such as Lean Forward with Mentoring.
