Riviera Beach, Fla. – 17-year-old academic scholar Justin Ricketts from Lake Worth, Florida has recently accomplished a very rare academic achievement. Justin, a 12th grade Math, Science, and Engineering (MSE) and International Baccalaureate (IB) student at Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach, Florida with a 4.0 grade point average has made a perfect score of a 1600 on the SAT test. Justin was one of less than 1% of extraordinary college bound students out of 2 million other students to score a perfect score of a 1600 on the SAT test.

Aside from excelling on the SAT test, Justin is also a stellar student within his high school community. At Suncoast Community High School, Justin served as the Co-President of the Black Student Union in 2021-2022 and will be President in 2022-2023. Justin has served as Speech Captain of the debate team in 20212022 and will be President of the debate team in 2022-2023. He also founded and serves as President of a club designed to fight healthcare disparities.

Justin has also performed exemplary achievements outside of school. In 2021, he worked as a summer intern at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, he placed 1st place in Columbia University’s Neuroscience Society’s National Design Challenge, he was selected as a Sunshine State Scholar for achievement in STEM and lastly, he was one of 80 students in the world selected for the Research Science Institute held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology this summer, which he is most proud of out of all of his academic achievements so far.

When Justin graduates from Suncoast Community High School in 2023, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Princeton University are among the list of colleges that Justin would like to attend. Biology being Justin’s favorite subject in school, he would like to continue his studies in science and major in neuroscience to become a neurosurgeon.

Justin received a proclamation from the office of the mayor of The City of Riviera Beach in recognition of his academic achievement of receiving a perfect score of a 1600 on the SAT test. Justin’s advice to other high school students preparing to take the SAT test is to practice. It is very important that you practice and understand what skills you are being tested for. Also, read and read well for understanding and don’t over think.
