Boynton Beach – In a City Commission community meeting packed with residents and other concerned citizens Tuesday, Boynton Beach officials unanimously rejected the proposed monument on the agenda honoring deceased right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk. As the meeting commenced, Commissioner Woodrow Hay, the commission’s only African American member, requested to speak, and proceeded to unpack Kirk’s divisive record. With members of the NAACP of West Palm Beach and other groups mobilized, the commission voted to forever end any discussion of celebrating Kirk in the city. “When people stand up, the community listens,” commented local activist Kelvin Bledsoe.
