MIAMI — If you’re considering taking someone to small claims court, an April 5 presentation could help you prepare. The Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER), Office of Consumer Protection, will host a free Small Claims Court presentation at noon, April 5, at the Surfside Community Center.

The presentation will provide participants with guidance on the procedures for filing a claim in the County’s Small Claims Court, including a Q&A session and resources for preparing for trial.

Small Claims Court is used by individuals who want to address disputes involving $5,000 or less without the costly burden of having to hire an attorney. The Small Claims Court presentation will be led by Community Outreach Specialist Bryant Acevedo.

For questions about this event or for additional information, contact the Office of Consumer Protection at 786-469-2333. Filing instructions and legal forms on “How to File in Small Claims Court” are available in English and Spanish and may be downloaded for free from the website.

The presentation will run from 12:00 p.m. to 01:30 p.m. at the Surfside Community Center, 9301 Collins Avenue, Surfside, 33154.
