WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach County Commissioner Mack Bernard (in red shirt above) and County Administrator Verdenia Baker spoke with members of the media following the first day of government sponsored drivethrough coronavirus testing Tuesday at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach. “We were able to get 255 people tested today,” said Bernard. “What we hope is that we will be able to ramp it up (to) close to 500 over the next couple of days.” The facility normally serves as spring training home of the Major League Baseball Champion Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros, who competed in the most recent World Series. While baseball joins other sports on hold during the worldwide pandemic, officials are working with the state to open another testing site farther south.
