Miami —The Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) Board has created a new community organization, the Foundation for Youth and Economic Development, Inc. (FYED), which launched its first event with George Willborn, the Golf and Comedy Jam Stress Relief  Weekend.

The charity event benefited FYED and The Cleveland Clinic Minority Men's Health Center, and included an appearance by TV celebrity court judge, Judge (Greg) Mathis, speaking to Miami Northwestern High, Booker T. Washington Sr. High and Miami Edison Middle School Teen Court/Student Court students. Miami-Dade County Teen Court (M-DCTC) is a Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust Initiative.

Judge Mathis was presented with a plaque by MDEAT and FYED in appreciation of his speaking to the Teen Court/Student Court students. Three of the students were chosen to speak on behalf of their schools and to present to Judge Mathis:

Johnny Perez, a Booker T. Washington senior who according to his teacher, Cynthia Moore, is a leader, an independent worker, consensus builder, quick learner, self motivated, motivates his peers and aspires to be a judge.

Maurice Bellamy a junior at Miami Northwestern High,  who according to his teacher, Rhonda Lewis, is a leader, president of his Criminal Justice class, spokesperson for the Criminal Justice Program, aspires to be a lawyer, will be the first in his family to attend college and with proper mentoring has unlimited potential.

Jude Raymond, a Miami Edison Middle 8th grader who according to his teacher, Ms. Brittany Bull, is mature for his age, eloquent and always has some insightful to say.  

During the Comedy Jam event at the Ziff Ballet Opera House on Saturday, Dec. 3, the MDEAT presented Willborn with a plaque and Teen Court portfolio to thank him for his efforts in raising money for The Foundation for Youth and Economic Development, and The Cleveland Clinic Minority Men's Health Center.
