The Music in the Park event will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex Amphitheater, 3000 N.W. 199 St., Miami Gardens.

“When I think about the history of jazz music, it is only fitting that we host a free concert highlighting this treasured cultural sound,” said Commissioner Jordan. “We are fortunate to have several jazz greats living in District 1, and we have included them in our Dec. 7 lineup, as well as our May 3 event.”

In addition to the veteran jazz artists, the Florida Memorial University Jazz Band will perform. That  group

is headed by the legendary Melton Mustafa, director of Jazz Studies at FMU.

Sponsors for the Dec. 7 Music in the Park jazz concert include the Sunshine Jazz Organization, Miami-Dade Parks Foundation, Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council and the City of Miami Gardens.
