“Our virtual school and online opportunities are a critical part of our strategy to meet the needs of all students,” said Runcie.  “They provide our students the flexibility and the personalization to achieve academic success.”

The Superintendent of the Year co-recipients were selected based on their leadership, hard work, dedication to providing quality education to students and their commitment to improving the lives of students in pursuit of virtual education, organization officials said.

“Every year, it is our pleasure to name a superintendent who has done an exemplary job to promote online opportunities and Florida Virtual School,” said Julie Young, president and CEO for Florida Virtual School. “But this year we were lucky enough to have two – and could not select one over the other.”
