RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) _ Amtrak and railroad operator CSX are suing the trucking company involved in a March train derailment in North Carolina that injured 55 people.

The lawsuit filed Friday in a Raleigh federal court blames Guy M. Turner Inc. of Greensboro for the March 9 crash in which a passenger train collided with an oversized tractor-trailer.

The lawsuit says the driver blocked the crossing in disregard of safety signs and failed to notify CSX or Amtrak. It alleges that the trucking company failed to take reasonable safety precautions.

The lawsuit doesn’t specify an amount of damages sought but says it would be more than $75,000 for each company.

CSX and Amtrak declined to comment on the lawsuit, and the trucking company didn’t immediately return a message.
