RENO, Nev. (AP) _ Nevada freshman Jordan Pearce has been named the Mountain West Conference baseball player of the week after going 8-for-10 at the plate in four games last week, scoring five runs and knocking in five more with three doubles and two walks.

Pearce was the designated hitter in Nevada’s 27-2 win over San Jose State Saturday. He went 5-for-7 with two doubles and five RBIs.

He was 3-for-3 with a double in Sunday’s 6-4 loss to the Spartans.

The Wolf Pack are ranked 24th this week in Baseball America’s Top 25 with an overall record of 33-11. They’re ranked 29th by Collegiate Baseball and currently in first place in the Mountain West with a league record of 18-6.

The host St. Mary’s in a pair of non-conference games Tuesday and Wednesday.
