The Life and Music of Celia Cruz:
Kick off your summer on June 2 by singing and dancing with the likeness of Cuba’s late, legendary salsa diva when this dynamic and rhythmic production returns to the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall. The hall is located at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. Through June 21, hear live renditions of dozens of Celia Cruz’s beloved songs, including “Guantanamera,” “Químbara,” “Toro Mata,” and “La Vida es un Carnaval,” as well as “La Bomba.”  Tuesday and Wednesday performances contain bilingual dialogue (English and Spanish), all others are spoken exclusively in Spanish. All songs are sung in Spanish during every performance. Tickets are $60 to $125. The June 2 performance begins at 7:30 p.m. The Arsht Center is at 1300 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami. Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival:
Come out and enjoy the 33rd Annual Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival, which officially begins on June 3 and ends on June 7. The event celebrates the legacy of the settlement of Bahamian people in the 1800s in Coconut Grove. See colorful costumed junkanoo groups dancing to Caribbean rhythms, entertainment on three stages and a variety of arts, crafts and food for sale. Arturo O’Farrill Afro-Latin Jazz Sextet:
The Coral Gables Congregational Church (CGCC) Community Arts Program opens its 24th Summer Concert Series with the legendary musical prowess of the Arturo O'Farrill Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. This concert will present a combination of piano, trumpet, sax, bass, drums and percussion as the band plays the funky fusion of Latin jazz. The concert will take place at the Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 De Soto Boulevard in Coral Gables. Kevin Hart: Comedian Kevin Hart (best known for his roles in Soul Plane and the 40-Year-Old Virgin) comes to the Miami Improv, 3390 Mary St. #182 in Coconut Grove. New Golden Heights Church of Christ Anniversary Celebration:
The public is invited to come out and enjoy a week of activities celebrating the 65th Church Anniversary of New Golden Heights Church of Christ, 2051 N.W. 31st Ave. in Lauderdale Lakes.
