Police on Monday found the body of a young black boy following a search for Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, according to several news reports.

Authorities did not immediately release the boy’s identity, but media reports said an SUV in which the body was found belonged to Hudson’s slain brother, Jason, 29. Police had issued an alert on Friday saying the boy may have been abducted in that vehicle.

CNN reported this afternoon that the FBI believes the body is that of the missing boy.

Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found shot dead in Donerson’s South Side Chicago home on Friday. Their deaths were ruled homicides. The boy’s body had been missing since then.

Jennifer Hudson offered $100,000 Sunday for information leading to his safe return. Julian is the son of Jennifer Hudson’s sister, Julia Hudson.

The Amber Alert issued Friday named William Balfour, the estranged husband of Julia Hudson, a suspect in a “double homicide investigation.”

Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond said authorities considered Balfour a “person of interest” in the case but he had not been charged.

He remained in police custody Sunday, but Bond said he would be transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections “based on his active parole violation unrelated to this investigation.”

Records from the Illinois Department of Corrections show Balfour, 27, is on parole and spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle.

Police said they did not have a motive for the killings but called the case “domestic related.”
