MIAMI — Looking for a tasty way to end the summer? The W.I.S.H Foundation, Inc. in partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter will host its first ever “Low Country Southern Boil” on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Greynolds Park in North Miami Beach. Sponsored with support from African BEST Textures and the Jessie Trice Community Health System, the event features a traditional South Carolina Lowcountry Boil, sometimes known as Frogmore Stew, featuring succulent shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn and other fixings.

“We are hosting this uniquely southern cultural experience, featuring fine food and festive music, to further enliven the cultural scene in South Florida. Proceeds from “Low Country Southern Boil” will help our programs to support women in recovery, youth development and college preparatory programs, as well as efforts around the world to improve opportunities for women and girls,” said H. Leigh Toney, Chairman, W.I.S.H. Foundation Board Chairman. “This is the Foundation’s 30th Anniversary year and we invite the entire community to join in the celebration and help support our mission of educating, elevating and empowering women, youth, and communities.”

Tara Pasteur, President of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter, said, “I’m very grateful to our event sponsors African BEST Textures and the Jessie Trice Community Health System. We couldn’t do what we have been able to do for so long without being good partners and having good partners.”
