MIAMI GARDENS — Best known for his “real talk” for motivating and educating black youth, author  Jawanza Kunjufu will lead the Real Talk for Moms Workshop on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. – noon. Kunjufu will offer mothers effective strategies for parenting in today’s society and discuss the best approaches to help teens navigate the minefield of drugs, cyber bullying, peer pressure and violence.

Kunjufu was educated at Morgan State, Illinois State, and Union Graduate School. He is a guest lecturer at universities and public school districts across the country.  He offers commentary on nationally syndicated radio shows and authored the following best sellers: Countering the Conspiracy to Destroy Black Boys, State of Emergency: We Must Save African-American Males, Motivating and Preparing Black Youth for Success, Reducing the Black Male Dropout Rate and Raising Black Boys. 

The workshop, presented by Charesse Chester & Associates Inc., Nahbulunge, Miami Gardens Vice Mayor Lisa Davis, City of Miami Gardens and Jack and Jill of America Miami Chapter, will take place at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, 3000 NW 199th St., Miami Gardens.
