Raffael “Ralph” Crockett, president and chief executive officer of BrightStar Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in South Florida, was presented the Man of the Year award by the Broward County Chapter of the United Nations Association in recognition of exemplary achievements enhancing Broward County.

“Ralph Crockett is a humanitarian that is passionate about many issues affecting our community today,” said Chanel Williams, program chairwoman of the UNA chapter. “We are honored to present this award for his well deserved charitable efforts in the community and as an outstanding corporate citizen.”

The United Nations Association of the USA provides information and educational series on the work of the United Nations and on the global issues throughout communities across the nation. 

Crockett has more than 22 years of experience in the credit union and banking industries in south Florida and has headed BrightStar for the past eight years.

Under his leadership, BrightStar has developed a reputation in the community for being an industry leader in customer service, developing innovative marketing and promotional campaigns and for giving back to the community it serves in a variety of ways, according to a statement from the credit union.

Crockett is on the board of directors of the  Southeast Corporate Credit Union, an organization comprising credit union CEOs from across the southeastern U.S. He also serves on the board of directors of Florida Credit Union Shared Services.

BrightStar is a full-service, non-profit member-owned cooperative open to all who live or work in Broward or Palm Beach counties but also has specifically served employees and students of Broward Schools for more than 60 years.
