Ronald Poppo spent nearly a month in a hospital after the May 26 attack alongside a Miami highway. Since then, he's been living in a long-term care facility.

The attack left Poppo blind, but his doctors say he's been working with an occupational therapist to learn how to take care of himself. The doctors say Poppo also has learned to play guitar and practices daily.

Poppo's doctors and caretakers will hold a news conference Tuesday to give an update on his progress.

Police shot and killed Poppo's attacker. Lab tests found only marijuana in his system.
