miguel_cala_web_fc.jpgFormer teacher Miguel Leonardo Cala, 37, of Coral Springs, has been arrested in Virginia and is being held on child molestation allegations in Broward County, Florida.

Cala is a former music teacher at St. Andrew’s Catholic School in Coral Springs. He resigned in May, and is accused of molesting a protégé he was tutoring in August, but not at the school.

He reportedly admitted to the accusations, but went missing and fled before he could be formally charged and arrested.

He face charges of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12 and lewd and lascivious conduct.

The arrest came while Cala was on the phone BSO investigators, as he drove on interstate I-95 through Virginia.

After pulling on the side of the highway, BSO investigators convinced him to identify his whereabouts and turn himself in. While still on the phone with the investigators, Virginia authorities were notified.

Minutes later Cala was in Caroline County, just north of Richmond, when a Virginia state a trooper pulled up from behind and arrested him. He is being held in the Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover, Virginia.
