NEW YORK, N.Y. — For the first time in their careers three famed comedians will share the stage for an evening of laughs in support of the Democratic National Convention and President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.
The One World Comedy Jam featuring comedians D.L. Hughley, Tommy Davidson and Aries Spears, comes to Charlotte’s Belk Theater in North Carolina on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 9 p.m. during the Democratic National Convention. Tickets are on sale at oneworldcomedyjam.com
Comedian and political commentator Hughley’s new comedy special D.L. Hughley: Reset, is currently airing on Showtime. Known for his riotous political commentary and timely wit, Hughley is widely remembered for his stint as host of CNN’s D.L. Hughley Breaks the News, as well as his long-running primetime show The Hughley’s, and most of all, his standup act as one of The Original Kings of Comedy. This fall, Hughley can be seen on Comedy Central’s new sitcom Endangered.
Also headlining the One World Comedy Jam is comedian Tommy Davidson, a fan favorite on television as one of the original stars of the hit show In Living Color, on the big screen in films Strictly Business and Booty Call and the ultra-comedic commentating host of FOX’s The NFL Show. Aries Spears, a veteran of the hit comedy show Mad TV, is known for his timeless impersonations of anyone from Jay-Z to President Obama.
Adding to the schedule of all-star events, on the following evening, Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Ovens Auditorium, Bling 1 Entertainment and Coast2Coast Productions will present An Intimate Evening with Kem. The Grammy Award-winning, soulful R&B artist will perform hits from his latest CD Intimacy. Tickets are on sale at KEMLiveDNC.com
The events will encourage voter registration and participation. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Obama 2012 Campaign and the DNC.
