TALLAHASSEE – Florida Gov. Rick Scott is appointing Tom Delacenserie as the new secretary of the Florida Lottery.

Scott made Delacenserie interim secretary in late August. He took over after then-Secretary Cynthia O’Connell abruptly resigned amid questions about her work habits and her use of corporate credit cards.

Delacenserie has worked for the Florida Lottery since 2000 when he began working as a district manager in Fort Myers. He had spent the last two years as deputy secretary for sales and marketing.

The nearly 30-year-old Florida Lottery is at a critical juncture with the ticketed games that include Powerball, Lotto and Mega Millions. While scratch-off ticket sales have continued to surge, the forecasts are relatively flat for the other types of lottery games.
