LOWELL, Vt. (AP) _ The utility that owns a large-scale wind power facility in the northern Vermont town of Lowell is highlighting its donation of a tower that measures wind speed to the local school.

Green Mountain Power Corp. officials say the aim is to enable teachers to expand the science and math curriculum for students at the Lowell Graded School and help the kids become weather experts.

The company used the meteorological tower to measure wind speeds prior to building its Kingdom Community Wind plant on Lowell Mountain.

Company and school personnel gathered with students and parents for an open house this past week.
