ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) _ A panel of Montgomery County Council members is scheduled to vote on a measure to require paid sick leave in the county.

The council’s Health and Human Services Committee is scheduled to vote on the bill on Thursday in Rockville. If it clears the committee, the measure will go to the full council.

The measure closely resembles legislation that has stalled in the Maryland General Assembly.

For example, it would allow workers to earn one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked, up to seven full days of paid sick leave per year.

The measure would bring paid sick days to nearly 100,000 county residents.
