Annual Book Bag Giveaway and Health Fair:
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dorrin Rolle will host an annual book bag give away and health fair at Gwen Cherry Park, 7090 N.W. 22nd Avenue in Miami. Attendees may receive immunizations, dental, and vision and blood pressure screenings. There will also be various fun activities including bounce houses, rock climbing walls, face painting clowns, train rides and free food. Writing for Success:
Everyone needs to learn how to market themselves properly nowadays, even free-spirited artists.  If you want to have your work seen by more than close family and friends, come to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts’ Writing for Success seminar. This all-day work show teaches you how to describe and differentiate your artistic product, create a press packet, create a realistic budget, and write a cover letter. The Harder They Come:
The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County will feature a production of the internationally acclaimed hit musical The Harder They Come. The musical opens Aug. 29 in the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. The Harder They Come offers audiences a peek into the journey of an aspiring reggae star, as depicted in the 1972 international breakthrough film that caused a reggae music explosion heard around the world. DubFest:
This one-day reggae and dub fest is headlined by the founding and only original surviving member of the Wailers (as in Bob Marley and the Wailers), Bunny Wailer. The Dub Fest at Hollywood Arts Park, One Young Circle in Hollywood, features an array of ska, alternative and reggae artists including Lee “Scratch” Perry, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Badfish and Authority Zero.  Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 the day of the festival. Lil Wayne in Concert:
Technically, this concert features an array of popular performers such as up and comer Drake, Pleasure P, Young Jeezy and Souljah Boy at the BankAtlantic Center, One Panther Parkway in Sunrise.
