richard_dunn.jpgMIAMI _ The Rev. Richard Dunn was selected on Tuesday night as the replacement for suspended Miami City Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones.

After hours of debate, city commissioners unanimously voted to appoint Dunn to the District 5 seat. Dunn was the second-highest vote winner in the Jan. 12 special election, behind Spence-Jones.

Gov. Charlie Crist suspended Spence-Jones from the Miami City Commission after she was charged with grand theft in November. He suspended her again on Jan. 14, after she won the special election for her replacement on Jan. 12.

Dunn agreed to accept the position on the condition that he will not run for re-election, according to news reports.

If Spence-Jones is cleared of the charge against her, she will be returned to the seat.
