KINGSTON — Police said Friday officers killed four men during a shootout in the island's southern region. The statement said an officer was shot and injured, saved by his bulletproof vest.
Human rights groups have long accused police of operating under a culture of impunity. There were 211 reported killings by police last year, 69 fewer than the official tally of 2010.
