seu-jorge_web.jpgHOLLYWOOD — He has risen from years of homelessness in a favella on the ourskirts of Rio de Janeiro to become an internationally applauded renewer of Brazilian pop samba, citing Stevie Wonder as one of his major influences.

He has won critical acclaim as a singer and composer and screen-stealing actor in such films as City of God. He was joined by Rio artists B Negão and Marisa Monte in the London 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony segment that concluded with a surprise appearance by Pele.
