pamela-walton-web.jpgPamela Yvette Walton, daughter of the late attorney Jesse J. McCrary Jr. and Margaret McCrary, passed on Saturday morning, Dec. 29. Pam, as she was affectionately known, was born March 20, 1971 in Jacksonville.

Family members say God graced her to use her gifts and talents for His service at the early age of three, when she started singing in the youth choir at Mt. Olive AME Church in Jacksonville, marking the beginning of an unrelenting willingness to love God and serve Him.

She attended Apalachee Elementary school in Tallahassee, and Miami Shores Elementary School in Miami. She attended North Miami Middle School and graduated from Northwestern Senior High School in 1989. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Spelman College in 1993 and a Masters degree in Social Work from Barry University. Pamela Walton also was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Throughout her young adulthood, Pam utilized her gifts wholeheartedly at New Birth Baptist Church, said family members, not holding back anything from God’s service. She taught in the E.V. Hill Bible College and also taught

Youth Sunday School and Bible Study. She sang in the Cathedral Choir and assisted with the Youth Choir. Among other ministries to which she devoted her service, Pam participated in the Prayer Warriors and Nursing Home Ministries, and was coordinator of South Florida Evaluation Center. After realizing her love for serving God, Bishop Victor T. Curry licensed her to preach the Gospel and exercise her gifts in the work of the ministry.

Pam is survived by her mother, Margaret McCrary (widow of the late Jesse J. McCrary Jr.) two sisters, Jessica McCrary Campbell (Donovan)and Bonnye McCrary Fields (Jackie), grandmother, Sallie Zimmon, Aunts  Dorothy Williams (Samuel) and Connie Fountain (Donald) and a host of many loving relatives and friends.

Pamela described herself as “just a humble servant of God,” say family members, who humbly ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of her life be made to the ALS Association, at ALS National Headquarters, 1275 K Street N.W., Suite 1050, Washington, DC 20005.
