MIAMI – The Black Archives Foundation sadly announced the passing of Mrs. Gwendolyn M. Heastie Welters (Dr. Warren Welters) their beloved board chair, on Sept. 6.

In addition to her work with The Black Archives, Welters spent her life serving the Miami-Dade community as an educator, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Links, Inc. and the MRS Club. Her warm heart and dedicated spirit will not be forgotten, friends said.

The location of all services is the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 1301 N.W. 71st St., Miami. A memorial service was set for Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m., and funeral on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m.

Charlene Warthen Adedokun
ATLANTA, Ga. – Funeral services are being held this weekend for Charlene Warthen Adedokun, 53, of Atlanta, Ga. Adedokun, a 1978 graduate of Boca Raton High School, who attended the University of South Florida in the early 1980s, died on Sept. 1 in Atlanta. A viewing will be held from noon – 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, at Gregory B. Levitt & Sons Funeral Home, 4347 Flatshoals Pkwy., in Decatur, Ga. A Homegoing Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Green Forest Community Church, 3250 Rainbow Dr., Decatur, Ga.
