Domestic Violence Walk: Safespace Foundation will present its third annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk and Expo at 9 a.m. at the Senator Gwen Margolis Amphitheatre, 16501 NE 16th Ave. The event will feature family entertainment, food, refreshments and special guests. Young Talent Big Dreams: The Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre will hold preliminary auditions for ages of 8-17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will compete for prizes ranging from performing arts scholarships and cash to tickets to local attractions and theatres. Economic Empowerment Summit: Bethel Temple CDC of South Florida and New Hope MBC Ministries will present their first joint summit, on the theme “Economic Strength in a Time of Loss,” Oct. 8 – 10.  Workshop topics will include financial strategies; entrepreneurship/

Volunteers Needed: VITAS Innovative Hospice Care of Broward needs volunteers who can make friendly visits to terminally ill patients and their families, provide relief for weary caregivers, visit veterans, accompany pets for pet therapy visits, make bereavement calls or visits, sew Memory Bears, play musical instruments, sing or read to patients who are no longer able to see. Licensed hairdressers are needed to give free haircuts to patients at home.  Volunteers are required to complete a two-day orientation.
